Olympic and World Class Show Organizer Simon Brooks-Ward Joins Wellington Equestrian Partners

October 11, 2007, Wellington, FL
The designer of the London Olympic Equestrian Park, organizer of the Athens Olympics equestrian competitions and the world famous London Olympia and Royal Windsor horse shows has joined Wellington Equestrian Partners (WEP) team to help create one of the world's top horse shows in Palm Beach, Florida.

The appointment of Simon Brooks-Ward to help former International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Secretary General Michael Stone and WEP Managing Partner Mark Bellissimo create a horse show venue equal to Aachen, Germany and Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada was announced Thursday.

Their goal is to create major spectator equestrian events on an international level not seen in the U.S. outside of the World Cups in Las Vegas in 2005 and 2007 and the Olympics in Los Angeles in 1984 and Atlanta in 1996. By bringing in the world's best jumper and dressage riders and horses together with great equestrian displays such as the French Cadre Noir and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, local spectators and visitors from all over the Americas and the world will be drawn to these events.
Brooks-Ward comes from a long tradition of equestrian organizers. His father, Raymond Brooks-Ward was the "Voice of Show Jumping" on BBC television, and developed the London Olympia Horse Show which Simon has continued. It ranks as one of the top indoor shows on the world circuit.

Not only does Brooks-Ward have experience designing equestrian venues, he is the world's leading organizer of spectacular equestrian events. Held the week before Christmas, London Olympia is renowned as much an entertainment extravaganza as a horse show that insures sellout crowds.

Brooks-Ward, 43, has also organized other world famous events such as the equestrian celebration for the birthday of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, the amazing mix of the world's top singers performing with the premier jumping riders and horses at the Pavarotti horse show for Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Italy, the 2006 Dubai horse show for Princess Haya of Jordan as well as a host of other events around the world.
The 2009 European jumping and dressage championships in Windsor, England, being held together for the first time, are also being organized by Brooks-Ward.
At the same time, he has served as chairman and president of the FEI's Strategic Planning Committee that has brought him into contact with every level of horse sports throughout the world in helping to develop equestrian activities for the future.
Stone said: “I am delighted to be working with Simon, who is without doubt the leader in his position in the world. His knowledge will ensure that we not only have the best possible venue, but also the most spectacular events.”

“I am really excited at the challenge ahead and believe that together with Michael and Mark we can deliver on the potential inherent in Wellington and the U.S,” Brooks-Ward said.

Bellissimo said: “The WEP Partners believe that this unique and powerful combination of skills that Michael Stone and Simon Brooks-Ward possess will allow Wellington to truly distinguish itself as one of the premier equestrian destinations in the World. This is the first in a series of announcements that we will make over the next few months that will define our mission and vision for equestrian sports in Wellington.”
