The Challenge of the Americas, a dressage and jumping entertainment spectacular that is a highlight of the Winter Equestrian Festival, will be held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on March 8.
The "Challenge," as it has become known for its colorful and fun team dressage competitions and the introduction of a jumping puissance last year, will be staging its seventh annual event to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Challenge will be held in the completely made over International Arena with its stadium lighting and new footing installed by Bart Poels of Belgium who is the footing specialist for the Olympic Games. Mary Ross, creator and organizer of the event, said the teams for 2008 include Purina Millas Team USA, Morgan Stanley Team International and SSG Gloves Team Can/Am. Challenge performances are all at the level of the dressage Grand Prix. The preliminary schedule for the March 8 Challenge is: 6:00 p.m. Cocktails & Hors d'Oeuvres for VIP guests 6:30 p.m. In Memory of Judy 6:45 p.m. The Challenge of the Americas - Musical Quadrilles & Show Jumping 7:45 p.m. Award Presentation 8:00 p.m. Challenge Gala - Dinner & Dancing VIP tickets are $250.
