The Grand Hunter ring marked the end of the First Year Green Hunter division for Week 3 at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising Thursday.
Two trips over fences separated the Champion and Reserve. The first trip was taken by Tim Goguen of Wellington and the five-year-old bay gelding, Breathtaking, with a score of 90. Breathtaking is owned by Paula Polk Lillard of Lake Forest, Ill. The horse and rider combination finished as Reserve Champion. "This horse is really green," Tim said. "He has only showed four shows in his life. Each week he pulls out a great class or two, he is just mentally too green to put it all together yet. He is very talented and is going to be a great horse." The second trip was gracefully mastered by Louise Serio of Kennett Square, Penn. on the seven-year-old bay gelding, La Fayette with a score of 90 showing a repeat of the 90 they posted Wednesday. La Fayette is owned by Meralex Farm, Inc. of Brandon, Fla. Louise and La Fayette finished with the Champion ribbon. "This horse was successful as a Pre Green," Louise said. "He was Champion at Capital Challenge in 2006. He is very nice to ride, he goes in a rubber snaffle. He is just an awesome horse, I have a lot of fun riding him."
