Lora Schultz and Special K were the Grand Champion Friday in the Adult Amateur 51 and Older division at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.

Lora Schultz of Wellington, Fla. and her seven-year-old Hanoverian gelding, Special K, sealed the win with their first place finish and high score of 86 in the second over fences class on Friday. It added to second place in the Under Saddle and the blue ribbon win in the over fences class on Thursday.

"He is very special, that is why he is named Special K," Lora said. "I bought him as a four-year-old and I think he is the most wonderful horse you could own. He has the best mind, you can do anything with him. I just enjoy being around him."

The blue ribbon in the first trip over fences on Friday, with a score of 86, was awarded to Patricia Raynes of New York and the 10-year-old bay gelding, Regal. Patricia and Regal train at Brigadoon Farm with Lainie Wimberly in North Salem, N.Y.

"Regal is so much fun to ride," she said. "He is a sweet, willing and kind horse. If this horse was a man I would marry him!'

Reserve Champion ribbon was awarded to Martin Schlaeppi of High Point, N.C. and the nine-year-old bay mare, Brown Eyed Girl.
